Caitlin & Derrick’s wedding was an absolute joy to shoot from beginning to end. I actually photographed her sister Erin’s wedding back in May 2011. So I was already very comfortable with their family. Not only did I get hired to be their wedding photographer but my wife Melanie got hired as their event planner! We had multiple consultations with the family to go over planning their big day. With weddings, the more organized you stay the better. So we made sure to go over each and every detail in order to make sure things run smoothly. We typed up a schedule of their wedding day, had contact numbers for all of the vendors and information on all the key players in their wedding. And thats a major part of what my wife and I do. Most couple’s who come and see us don’t realize that the photographer is there to not only take photographs but to actually help out as much as we can with your day. It’s like having an extra best man and maid of honor around to help you out! haha With Melanie and I in control of the day both sides of the family were at ease. They could now relax and enjoy their children’s wedding day.
I really enjoyed working with Caitlin and Derrick mainly because they were just so relaxed. This really made for a fun day of taking photographs. The couple had no real demands for me other then just to shoot everyone having a good time. Which is something I do at each and every wedding. Really I feel more like a guest at a wedding and I’m constantly walking around interacting with the family members and friends, taking photographs and capturing their day for everyone to look back on. That’s something that I want my clients to realize about me. That I’m not there to be the pushy photographer but really to join you and your family to celebrate your wedding. It just so happens I can also take a pretty darn good photograph! haha
